The challenge

Job seekers were overwhelmed by irrelevant listings, difficult-to-discover filters, and fragmented application journeys. The challenge was making an enormous catalog of opportunities feel relevant, intuitive, and personal without adding complexity.

Google had thousands of opportunities. Finding the right one was harder than it needed to be. Job seekers were navigating overwhelming results, limited filtering, and an experience that made it difficult to understand which roles actually matched their skills.

Our Lead Product Designer, Ied the redesign of Google Careers, starting with research, user journey mapping, and collaborative workshops to understand where the experience was falling short. We rethought the information architecture, introduced a more intuitive search experience centered on roles, skills, and location, and designed real-time filtering and more useful ways to explore opportunities.

Through prototyping, user testing, and close collaboration with engineering, we transformed a complicated job search into a more focused, responsive, and user-driven experience.

Outcome

Improved job-match accuracy by 78% and increased qualified applicant traffic by 48%, creating a more effective experience for connecting candidates with relevant opportunities.

"The simplicity of finding a job in Google has been a night and day experience"
